Reflections on the Assessment for Learning Conference by Morgan Vien, Contributing Conference Designer

The AfL Conference was a powerful experience for me in many ways. A huge part of my job is curating learning experiences that shake up “business as usual.” In a conference design role, it was interesting to design an experience for 400 people that felt personal, reflective and inclusive. That being said, I think we did that. I am stoked to continue to build out this muscle and imagine what is possible for this gathering. One shift I would make for the future is to support presenters to design even more hands on learning experiences for participants. As leaders who believe in learner-centered processes, we have to practice what we preach and this conference experience is a great place to prototype that work across contexts.
Stay tuned for AfL Conference 2021, as well as resources from this year’s conference!
Cancellation of Deeper Learning Conference 2020
In light of the current health climate, the difficult decision to cancel Deeper Learning 2020 was made. The event will not be rescheduled to later on this year, instead all efforts will be put toward making DL2021 an epic event, set for March 23-25, 2021! The Envision Learning Partners look forward to connecting with everyone in San Diego next year!
Registration will open in September. For more information, click here.
